Prompt, polite and very hard workers.

I am torn between a three star rating and a four star rating. They arrived right on time. The supervisor introduced each of the movers to me and they were very polite. They worked extremely hard. They were also very helpful. There were a couple of big problems though. 1) A good number of my items were damaged. I expected in a move that you won’t go unscathed but there was more damage than I expected. 2) when I pushed the supervisor on one of the damaged items, he went off on me. I mean a full scale rant. He was frustrated that the move took more than double the time that I booked. I would understand that except that I had three conversations with people that week sharing that I was concerned the amount of time they recommended for my move would not be sufficient. One of those conversations was with the supervisor himself. I shared the challenges of my size of home, being on a very steep driveway, and having lots of stairs. Despite sharing those concerns, all three conversations confirmed with me that they felt comfortable the amount of time we booked was sufficient. I felt it was totally inappropriate that I was blamed for not booking enough time when I challenged this multiple times. They are the professional movers… Not me. I feel like I totally did all I could to share the complexity of my move. There was one large item… A sunsetter awning, that turned out to be challenging in terms of space in the moving truck. Evidently, that made it hard for them to work around when loading the truck. I had no idea that would pose such a challenge. As I expressed to the supervisor though, all he had to do was tell me that that was going to make it more difficult for them and we could have thought through a new plan. I could have made other arrangements. But, he never shared with me that it was going to be an issue for them until he interrupted with me at the end of the move. I know they were late for another job and he was getting pressure to get there. I completely understand that. But to tell me that he was losing money by not getting there was a completely false statement. I paid for every single extra hour they were here. Again, I feel I did everything I could and my three phone conversations to express my concerns about the amount of time that was reserved and the complexity of my job. Running over on time should have nothing to do with the quality of the work. To share my concerns about damaged items and to turn around and blame me for the amount of time I booked seems like a copout. They are two separate things. So, as I started out with this review… I am struggling on how to rate them. Because up until that point, they really were a pleasure to work with. Very responsive, very friendly and very helpful.

The guys who came to help were great. They were friendly, professional and hard working. Because they had to use an elevator their progress was slowed down (as they saw it). Instead of milking the extra time they did nothing but apologize and work harder. This was the first time I had ever hired some extra help for moving and I would not hesitate to do it again through this company.

Adam and Jay couldn't have been better. They showed up exactly on time, worked hard and smart, had my truck loaded in record time. I have hired temps for moving jobs like this several times before, but this was by far the best experience. Thanks again guys! PS I was also impressed by the efficiency of the HireAHelper system itself.
